This is my first attempt at high dynamic range or HDR photography. Essentially, I take a picture of something with three different exposures (my camera does this automatically) and then merge them together in photoshop. The end effect is that because all three picture are combined you get a completely saturated image. The dark points are highlighted and so are the light points, and it actually works together to be an artistic image. Sometimes they look like clown puke. But sometimes they look amazing, and I’m currently interested in this type of photography. This particular picture is one I took in an abandoned grain silo just north of Oxford, it was an exhilarating experience to say the least. Here is a gallery of some other images I took, I plan to go back in the next few weeks with some more support (more camera gear and some friends).
Though I really like how this looks and it’s impressive software to merge all these images, I can’t help but think that this sort of looks like a cover to a “choose-your-own-adventure” book. Maybe it’s the purple outline of the door.
Nick, this looks fab!
These all look so great! I wish you could show me how you did it!!
