Foto Friday XXVII

Being a gadget guy in the age of digital everything it is a wonder that I have yet to take the plunge with an e-reader like Amazon’s Kindle.  Actually, the contrary has happened.  I have rediscovered the local public library.  While the Oxford University Bodleian Library system reportedly houses 11 million items on 117 miles of shelving, it isn’t nearly as easy to pick up the most recent Scarpetta novel as one might think.  I headed to the Oxfordshire City Council libraries instead, and have since found a treasure of crime dramas, city guide books, and survey maps.  Who would have thought?  (I’m sure Mom is nodding with approval).

1/80s f/3.2 60mm ISO 2000.  No adjustments. Au revior until next week.

  1. I’m so glad that the bad economy hasn’t effected the library system, as I remember you telling me was a very big possibility. I LOVE my library and go there at least weekly. I haven’t succumbed to the e-readers yet, either. I like being able to page back and re read sections, or look at maps that are part of the story being told, like in The Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones. Actually, the first time I read The Lord of the Rings was at the Botley library! Enjoy your Scarpetta books…which one are you up to?

  2. Here is an idea. Try not logging-on until 4 pm on a work-day. You might even find time to read the books you are carrying around.
