The ultimate killing machines

Somewhere I managed to lose about a month worth of fun stuff I planned to post about.  I’ll try my best to catch up, but let’s be honest, it probably won’t happen anytime soon.

In the meantime I encourage you to add to the discussion below by voicing your opinion on what are nature’s best killing machines.  Eagles, sharks, bears, spiders?  Right now, my vote goes to cats.  Both big cats and little cats are amazingly fast, and their instincts to hunt are fun to watch.  Especially when your overweight (not anymore!) de-clawed house cat decides to start hunting animals in the nearby area.  Mostly it is just cute to see him playing, but sometimes this happens:

Chelsea and I were minding our own business enjoying tea and crumpets in the back garden, when Gato started hunting.  Our cat hunts frequently, but usually he’s only chasing bumble bees, leaves, or figments of his imagination.  Not this time, he somehow managed to catch a wild mouse, and then made sure to show everyone he is king of this mountain.  Let’s take a closer look:

Pretty ferocious look for our lovable little fuzz ball huh?  I can only imagine the speed and efficiency of his larger wild cousins, which is why I vote cats as nature’s best killing machines.
