I’ve decided to spice up my site a little bit and change the name a little bit. Although Nicholas J. Brideau was very informative, and is one awesome name, I thought my site needed something more. I decided to keep the title named after the domain name (that seems to be the normal thing to do) but when I was brainstorming what to put in the logo the first thing that popped into my mind was Nickland.
Only those that know me well will understand the origin of this term. Simply put, Nickland is a place where I reside where only good things happen to me. Some examples:
1. I’ve been told at the airport my flight is overbooked. In Nickland I not only get a free flight, but I also discover a different set of flights that will get me to the same destination – but earlier.
2. I’m at the store in search of a new TV. I find one I like, only to discover they don’t seem to have it in stock. Turns out there are two display units, one that was put there only hours earlier. I proceed to get the discount for a display unit that has only been out of the box for a couple hours.
I think two examples is enough. I’m not actually sure of the exact origin of the term (I think Kellen maybe?) so if you know the story, or want to contribute one of your own, please put it in the comments section.
I like to think that I don’t really live in a place where good things always seem to happen to me. Most likely its that I try to make a conscious decision to associate myself with good things, or put myself in a situation where good things can happen. I guess I’m a glass half full kind of guy.
